Chapter 00: Prologue

The sky looks purpleish blue as usual with the sun which has just risen in the east shines not too bright. The morning breeze felt great especially when there is tree around. A place with many trees around would be fit to be a place to refreshing.

Alvis made a big yawn as he left his house and walked to the pond beside his house. The pond is beautiful. It is surrounded by the green grass and there are some lotus floating above it. The bottom of it can be seen because the water is fresh, and there are some fishes in there. But the beautiful scenery is too usual for him because he sees it everyday.

He stretched both of his arms upward. “Argh, my back is hurt…” He murmured to himself. He stayed up all night to work, and yet he still has another work at noon. “I guess overwork isn’t good to me.”

He walked further to the forest near his house. The forest is not too dark because the space between trees is wide so the sunlight could come through. Looking at the greenery really help him relaxing his eyes due to overwork.

He crossed the long river by jumping the river stones and walked alongside riverbank. The river is much clearer than the pond near his house. The water which touched the rocks in the river were sprinkling and made Alvis’ shoes and lower part of his white trouser a bit wet, but he did not mind. In fact, it was tickling him a bit with its cold.

He walked to the opposite direction of the downstream, as he walked toward the cascade. The cascade made a faint little rainbow. He could hear the faint afloat sound of thousand splashes. There is a river basin below the cascade. It is totally cool in there. Alvis thought that maybe the upstream of the river would be colder than the basin. But it was more than enough to him. Alvis sat under a tree beside the basin. He watched around, looking about how peaceful the forest is, and feel the morning breeze.

“It’s really relaxing…”

The ambience of the basin and the forest, plus the level of stress during work slowly put him to sleep. Without worrying about anything in that time, he tried to forget about anything that could increase his level of stress.

During his sleep, he was dreaming. Even he is tired, he is still dreaming. It was pure white dream. Everything is white. There is no standing ground. He is floating in the middle of nowhere.

What is this…

Alvis tried to reach something, but it was no use. There is nothing in there except his body.

Then, when he turned his body to see behind, everything is suddenly turned to black. It is like night without stars or moon. He could hear a voice which came from nowhere. He can be sure because no one in there beside him. The voice whispered something to his head.

Be… careful…

Alvis was confused with that. Before he even could think about that voice, he fell down with high speed as he was pulled by something.

After that moment, Alvis woke up. His face was full of sweats. He was out of breath. “W-what was that…?” he talked to himself. “That… was a dream, right? It was just a dream. Just a dream… It means nothing, hahaha…” He tried to comfort himself. “But some dreams mean something. Then is that—”

Suddenly, the ground is shaking hard. “Earthquake??” Alvis was frightened and a bit panic. “Oh, no! I haven’t shut down that device!! I gotta back to house.”

He stood up and wanted to go back to his house as soon as possible. When he took a first step before he ran, he felt that the ground was wet. He looked at the ground and saw that some space of the ground around him was filled with water. There is nothing to hold the water, so he thought it was flooded from the river. But the water around him rose very fast, and the water level was not decreasing at all. He found it strange, but he did not think of that in that time. His mind is full of his intention to go back to his house immediately. So he tried to run back, but it was slow of him.

The water rose very fast and completely drowned him in no time. The water made a ball shape and caged him inside. He struggled inside the water and tried to at least swimming to go outside, but he could not move an inch. He could not hold his breaths longer because the feeling of frighten and the sudden appear made him unprepared to hold his breath properly.

Not long after that, it vanished without any traces.
